With the song she made in collaboration with Ozuna, the Colombian took the record for the biggest debut in Spanish language after reaching more than 20 million views in the first 24 hours of release. Currently, the video has more than 58 million views.

The song, which would be dedicated to the breakup with Gerard Piqué, and that in some scenes of the video can be seen certain apologies to the soccer player, on its first day of release, became number one in YouTube trends, as mentioned by Sony Music in a statement.

According to data obtained by the digital platform Spotify, the song had more than three million plays in less than 24 hours, numbers that placed it at number 12 as the most successful Spanish-language release.

The barranquillera has kept her song at number 1 in YouTube trends, above productions by artists such as Feid, Blessd, Ozuna (who also sings in 'Monotonía'), Kim Loaiza and Taylor Swift, reported Semana magazine.

"Thanks for the love @youtubemusic, NY and LA can't wait to see you again!" the artist posted on her social media along with a promo video.

'Monotonía' is Shakira's second single for this new production that will be released in the coming months, since her last album was 'El Dorado' in 2017 and since that year she has not released any studio album.
