What is #HispanicHeritage ?
Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration dedicated to recognizing and honoring the contributions, history and culture of Hispanics and Latinos in the United States.
The beginning of the celebration, September 15th, coincides with the independence of several Latin American countries such as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico celebrates its independence on September 16th and Chile on September 18th, making this date significant for many Latino communities.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, a variety of cultural, educational and community events are held that celebrate the music, food, art, literature and traditions of diverse Hispanic and Latino cultures. It is a time to highlight the diversity within the Hispanic community and to recognize the significant contributions Hispanics have made to American society.
