On Nov. 30, Rihanna was recognized as a national heroine during the inaugural presidential ceremony at Heroes' Square in Bridgetown by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley and new Barbados President Sandra Mason.

At the event, which celebrated the country becoming a republic for the first time in history, it was also an opportunity to recognize Rihanna as an "excellent joust." The singer smiled under a mask as she heard her name called during the ceremony and was invited by the prime minister to come forward to receive the award.

At 33, Rihanna is a nine-time Grammy winner in the rap, dance and R&B genres; and founder of the lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty. She has now been named a "National Hero of Barbados" not only for her personal achievements, but also for working towards inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of women in her fashion shows.

“On behalf of a grateful nation, and an even prouder people, we present you with the designation of National Hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty. May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation with your words and actions, do good wherever you go. God bless you my dear," said the Prime Minister.

Rihanna thanked Mottley and those present by placing her hand on her heart as she stood next to the minister. Only 11 people have received the honor in Barbados' history, and Rihanna is the first to receive it in 20 years.

As expected, the singer's followers and fans flooded social media celebrating the recognition and praising the singer for her achievements.
