August 9th, 2022On Nov. 30, Rihanna was recognized as a national heroine during the inaugural presidential ceremony at Heroes' Square in Bridgetown by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley and new Barbados President Sandra Mason.
At the event, which celebrated the country becoming a republic for the first time in history, it was also an opportunity to recognize Rihanna as an "excellent joust." The singer smiled under a mask as she heard her name called during the ceremony and was invited by the prime minister to come forward to receive the award.
At 33, Rihanna is a nine-time Grammy winner in the rap, dance and R&B genres; and founder of the lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty. She has now been named a "National Hero of Barbados" not only for her personal achievements, but also for working towards inclusivity, celebrating the diversity of women in her fashion shows.
