The harsh quarantine in Puerto Rico had for many island artists a soundtrack as rhythmic as it was political, much like the debut album of Buscabulla's Regresa. The duet formed by Puerto Ricans Raquel Berrios and Luis Alfredo del Valle mixes electronic and traditional music such as jíbara and bomba with lyrics full of Puerto Rican pride and anti-colonial messages.

That's why, because art is resistance, the Drag Haus of Vanguardia collective wanted to pay a virtual tribute to the band on June 19, which was also very special because each performer chose their own song from the album and added a lot of fantasy to their performance.

The show did not last more than half an hour, but Drag Haus of Vanguardia traveled around the island from Old San Juan to Mayagüez, with a lot of humor and powerful words, because the time for silence has passed and Puerto Ricans have a lot to say. Especially a few months before the self-determination referendum and after the many tragedies that have struck the island.

In short, proof that queer art, activism and local artists have the potential not only to entertain but also to network and raise their voices.

"I feel that things like this could start to make people see that drag performers are artists with the same validity as mainstream or even popular indie groups. I mean, our Haus is our band," Ana Macho, a member of the collective, told Remezcla.
