Mau and Ricki console their sorrow with tequila in "Llorar y llorar"
They had the participation of the Mexican singer Carin León, who contributed to consolidate the most traditional Latin musical sounds
Mau and Ricki felt deep sadness and melancholy. At least that's what the video for "Llorar y Llorar" reveals, which is first single from their next album "Degenerados". The Venezuelan pop and reggaeton duo has opted for a sad ballad, where both appear inside a dark bar drowning their sorrows between shots of tequila and beer.
After love and passion, everything can lead to a tragic breakup. And that's what the lyrics of the song talk about. “I know that with the passage of time, you will forget me little by little. I have prepared myself for a reunion, which I know will never happen, I am lying to myself”, the Venezuelan artists sing in unison.
To unload their sorrows, they had the participation of the Mexican singer Carin León, who contributed to consolidate the most traditional Latin musical sounds that emerge in “Llorar y Llorar”. Apparently, their next album will be marked by experimentation between different genres, so each song will evoke a different style and lyrics.
The authors of hits such as “Unknowns”, along with Manuel Turizo and Camilo, or “Mi mala (remix)” with Krol G, Becky G, Leslie Grace and Lali, had been preparing for the release of their new music for some time. In this single, marked by tears and sadness, the inclusion of mariachi music stands out, whose golden wind instruments appear during the video clip. The setting also highlights the presence of virgins, traditional Mexican clothing and high-grade liquors to alleviate the wounds caused by love

Speaking to Sony Music, the duo clarified that their goal was to show the harsh reality of a relationship ending. “We felt like we were finally uniting our music with a sound that has been a part of our lives since we were kids. I'm very proud of this song." Regarding the inclusion of Carin León, they said that “it has been wonderful. We feel like we managed to unite the two worlds with a song that feels as much his as it does ours. I think it will be the first of many that we will do together, God willing."
The song was written entirely by Ricky, and produced by Jon The Producer and Rafa Arcaute, two great references in Latin music production. The video clip, based on a long sequence shot, was recorded in a pub in Mexico City. The clip was directed by Richard Mountainous and Daniel Durán, who have already recorded other videos of the Venezuelan couple such as "La boca entre otros".
Mau y Ricki are living a promising 2022, as they received two nominations for the Tu Música Urbano awards. They were chosen for their song “Mal acostumbrao”, and they intend to show that they are one of the most fashionable duos on the Latin scene.
Specifically, they aspire to win in the categories “Best Artist – Duo or Group” and “Song of the Year”. The Tu Música Urbano awards will be held on June 23 in San Juan (Puerto Rico), and fans can vote for their favorite artists on the contest's website.
