Since the release of the song "All I want for Christmas is you," Mariah Carey has become an icon of Christmas, and the track begins to play in everywhere as the celebration gets closer in the calendar year.

For this year, Mariah has released a children's book The Christmas Princess, co-written with Michaela Angela Davis.

Her work tells the story of a little girl named Little Mariah who lives in a rundown shack with her overworked mother, Mother La Diva. Neighborhood children bully her and she longs for Christmas cheer to help brighten her bleak life. But through singing, she soon discovers her power to spread joy and bring people together, USA Today reported.

With The Christmas Princess, the artist sought to create something uplifting for "all the people who have ever felt marginalized," she told USA Today.

"It's a short little book, but it really has a deeper meaning."

In addition, Mariah Carey will also perform her famous Christmas concerts next month, starting at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena on Dec. 9 and 11, then head to New York's Madison Square Garden on Dec. 13 and 16.

"I try to make (these shows) as magical as possible," Carey told USA Today. "Often when I was a kid, or even in the early stages of my career, I didn't feel loved. I certainly never felt unconditional love and that's what I have with my fans: that connection. So I'm very excited."

The artist has long taken full advantage of the holidays, making it her time to shine on and off stage.
