Julio Iglesias is not happy with the latest biography published about his life. The most popular Spanish artist of all time, with a musical and personal career marked by luxuries, controversies and some bizarre episodes, responded angrily after the publication of the book Hey! Julio Iglesias and the conquest of America.

For Iglesias, who in 1983 was the artist who sold the most records in the most languages ​​in the world, and in 2013 became the best-selling Latin artist ever, the 400-page work published by Hans Laguna seems nonsense, since it is based on "written anecdotes" and books of a confused nature.

In a post on his Instagram, where he doesn't post regularly, he said that “so many lies, so many speculations about my life, and few successes. It is very complicated for them to write, the relationship that my soul has with my head, since I had the use of reason. This is the story that remains to be told, the rest are very small anecdotes and speculations that confuse people.”

According to Iglesias, the books about his life published in recent years confused him. For this reason, he believes that the time has come to write his own autobiography:

"I don't know if it's because of shame or fear, but I have to do it now," he said.

The Spanish singer believes that what has been published is a compendium of small anecdotes without much importance, but that "the essence of the truth has not been told."

The musician acknowledged that he writes things daily about his life, but "I always end up leaving it.” Composing a good story is not possible for everyone, and perhaps Iglesias needs help to shed light on the unexplained chapters and reflections of his career.

In the same Instagram post, Iglesias refers to two of his most recognized songs: "Una leyenda" and "La vida sigue igual.” 

“When I wrote the first one, I was the little protagonist. I thought I didn't have long time to live. Over time, I wrote the other one,” and he clarified that in both lyrics he was talking about himself.

In recent times, many rumors have arisen about the health of Iglesias. Last January, he wanted to deny that he was sick. 

"I'm feeling great,” he said in a radio interview.

In 2020, there were publications of photos of him walking with difficulty and with the help of two people. That year, he canceled two concerts because he broke his tibia and fibula and was in poor physical shape.

"Every time I read how I am I get scared, because they have killed me 15 or 20 times, I don't know how I survive," he joked.

Despite having no concerts on his agenda, he confirmed that "I will start singing in three or four months, God willing."
