On the musical level, the new Farruko song doesn’t include surprises. Puerto Rican singer Carlos Efrén Reyes (original name) follows his usual pattern: reggaeton and trap, dancehall and some electronic rhythm. This is how his new single “Nazareno” begins, whose first seconds suggest that he aspires to compete for being the favorite summer song of Latin summer parties.

Regarding the aesthetics, it is a song that many will find uncomfortable or inappropriate. Especially because of the images of people throwing dollars on the butts of dancers, while the party breaks out in a nightclub around the urban music singer. But implicitly, it carries a criticism against those who only aspire to money and fame.

“Everyone joins you in a chorus, because now you're on top, was what the Nazareno told me. Everyone is in the good times, but in the bad times, everyone pulls for their side”, sings Farruko, in a direct allusion to the interested people who approach successful artists to live off their achievements.

The success of his music is undeniable: he released "Nazareno" on May 19, and the video clip has already accumulated more than two and a half million views on YouTube. For some fans, the video explains “the crude and harsh reality of what is lived in the underworld and that many artists are blinded by fame and power. Many have criticized this content badly without realizing the underlying message. The audiovisual production is a masterpiece”.

In his new single, Farruko continues to probe why he is one of the most in-form artists in urban music, capable of mixing genres without being out of tune. In “Nazareno” he opts for much more modern and powerful sounds, with a frenetic initial beat that raises the beat from the first bar. All the lyrics talk about the story of an artist who got swept up in a toxic tide of unwanted influences, while he really aspires to something better.

The audiovisual work, where Farruko stands out with his white clothing in front of lighting and dark clothing of those surrounding him, was directed by Mike Hoy and produced by Cinema Giants. The singer's white suit is a symbolic display of purity. That is precisely the contrast that he wanted to highlight with his composition.

In April, the artist already released “My Lova”, a song focused on the emptiness felt when losing the person most loved, and how difficult it is to walk the path alone. The song was also a success, with more than three million views when it had only been available for a few days.

In early 2022, the singer, winner of multiple awards during his career, won first place on Billboard's Latin Airplay Chart with his song "El incomprendido", featuring Víctor Cárdenas and DJ Adoni, and which is part of his album “LA 167”.

In “Nazareno”, Farruko wanted to show another face, and openly talk about the limitations and weaknesses that he faces in his life. A radical turn from the past, where in songs like "Pepas" he encouraged taking pills to promote happiness.
