Pedro Capó's song "Calma Remix," released in late July 2018, is a representation of the "Puerto Rican and Caribbean lifestyle," as defined by Capó in an interview for Billboard. It recently hit 1 billion streams on Spotify, granting Capó entrance into the prestigious Billions Club on the platform.
The track also has more than 2.5 billion views on YouTube since its release.
Through Instagram, the singer took the opportunity to tell his followers about the milestone on Spotify.
"Grateful to have been able to touch the world with a song of light and magic. A postcard of my beloved PR and the Caribbean lifestyle. Thank you @spotify for the recognition and to all of you for making this a dream! Congrats to my bro @farruko who put it in china and took it to the next level and to the great team behind this achievement," wrote the Puerto Rican.
This is not the first achievement for the song. Just months after its release, the two artists won a Latin Grammy in the category Best Fusion/Urban Interpretation for the remix, and Capó won Song of the Year for his original version.
Other artists who have also reached over 1 billion plays on Spotify and belong to the "Billions Club" are Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi and Jhay Cortez, Rihanna, J Balvin, Drake, Eminem, Backstreet Boys, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Coolio, Danny Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, and The Weekend, among others.
