The international festival of the music industry, BIME, which has been held for 10 years in Bilbao, Spain, will arrive for the first time to Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. It will be the first time the event is held in Latin America. The festival will take place between May 4 and 7, and will include performances of Nathy Peluso, Nanpa Básico, The Change and more Latin American artists.

BIME is an event for live music, industry, trends and innovation.

“An experience to create synergies between continents, do business, discover the most promising emerging talents and share knowledge,” reads the official description.

It is not a regular festival, but a space where the music industry debate about the challenges of the future, at a time when everything is reinvented after the painful pandemic break.

Bogotá will become, with Bilbao, a world epicenter of technology, networking and new ways of understanding music. Its extensive program includes various activities, such as seminars, training for students, start-up meetings, and collaborations to create a more inclusive music industry.

The edition in Colombia takes advantage of the "context in which the Latin American market has been experiencing exponential growth for years, and it will analyze how this phenomenon influences music consumption and the hiring of local and international artists."

The list of participants includes leading names and companies from around the world. For example, Albina Cabrera, producer of Latin American content at KEXP, Alicia Zertuche, Vice President of Booking at Ruido Fest, Camila Saravia, manager of Bomba Estéreo, Daniel Fletcher, director of business development for Primavera Sound, Diana Rodríguez, director of Criteria Entertainment, Erika Elliot, director of the Summer Stage Festival in New York, Sergio Pabón, founder of the Estéreo Picnic Festival, and more.

One of the highlights will be the sessions where new collaborations are explored between music media, YouTubers and advertisers. The new channels to produce and promote songs have revolutionized the market, which requires adapting techniques to new times.

But not everything goes around the mainstream: there will also be a special space for independent record companies at the Red LatAm meeting, which will promote collaboration in the sector. Small record labels are essential to discover new promises, and organizers know they must be protected at BIME.

There will also be sessions about the creation of music, the creative economy and a competition where eight innovative companies from the music sector will participate.

"It will be an intensive program dedicated to those who want to deepen their knowledge of the sector on both sides of the Atlantic," the organization announced. In addition, vinyl lovers will be able to enjoy a space where they can create their own records on the spot.
