Becky G receives Impact Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards
The singer was honored for her contribution to Latin music and culture.
The Impact Award was presented to Becky G by actress Dove Cameron at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards, who spoke about her friendship with the Latina singer before presenting her a plaque with her name on it.
"Let's talk about my friend Becky G," began Cameron, "Her music is incredible, spans multiple languages and continues to rack up hits including five top 10 hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart, her first number one on the Latin Pop Albums chart and more than two billion streams in the U.S."

During her speech, Cameron said Becky G "has made it a point to represent her community and celebrate the culture of Latinidad," thanks to her vocal support for Black Lives Matter, DREAMers, and her role as co-chair of Michelle Obama's nonprofit voter registration organization When We All Vote.
"It's crazy because I'm receiving this award that's called an Impact Award, but it's just as impactful for me in my life and my career and it's for many reasons. But mostly because when I was 15 years old I did a cover of a song called 'Becky from the Block,' and in that cover I made an oath to my community, to my family, to my younger self, that maybe the promise wasn't that I wouldn't leave where I came from, but that I would take where I came from wherever I went. And it never fails," said Becky G upon receiving her award.
She also had the opportunity to take the stage and perform her song "Mamiii," which she recorded with Karol G. This time she was accompanied by a guitarist, a drummer and two backup vocalists.
