Puerto Rican singer Chayanne returned to music after a long hiatus, with a romantic ballad sung by the sea. On his return, he didn't risk trying to reinvent the wheel, and remained faithful to the musical style that earned him worldwide fame.

"Te amo y punto" is a slow song with a constant beat, and some calculated open guitar chords that round off the ballad. Its music video stars two adorable children. The single is a preview of his next album, with a yet-to-be defined release date. The song says that true love is the real reason for being a couple.

It unleashes the romantic passion of Chayanne, who wants to show he still has something in the tank at 53. His career began in the 70s, as he started performing with Los Chicos. His solo career started in the 80s.

The song was written with Édgar Barrera, Richi López and Elena Rosa. The production was done by Luis Salazar, who wanted this traditional ballad to also reach the new generations, a complicated challenge given the emergence of urban genres in the Latin musical world.

However, Chayanne's career and prestige back him up. He has sold millions of albums all over the world, and is still considered one of the most successful Latin artists. More than 25 of his songs, including hits like “Provócame,” “Salomé,” and “Torero,” once topped the radio “Hot Latin Songs” list, making him the artist with the fourth most number ones in the list's history.

“This song was the product of the creation of a great group of professionals and based on the most noble feeling that we can feel in life: love. I always want to remind people that despite the speed at which we live today, love is the greatest of feelings and it will always fill our souls,” said Chayanne.

Without revealing the title of his new album yet, the Puerto Rican hopes “people receive it with the same enthusiasm and respect with which I recorded it. It is a sample of a great job that we will show little by little,” he said.

Chayanne, who has also excelled in the film and television industry, has recorded a total of 24 albums on the Sony Music Latin label. “Te amo y punto” is his first release after four years of musical silence. Weeks before, he launched a powerful campaign on social media under the hashtag #vuelveChayanne.

Over more than four decades of a career, the singer was nominated four times for the Grammy Awards, and the expectation now is to continue reaping success.
