Sónar 2022: the popular International Festival of Advanced Music returns to Barcelona
C. Tangana, Chemical Brothers, BRAVA and La Chica, are among the prominent artists joining the festival, which will take place on the 16, 17 and 18 June.
Lovers of electronic music and the urban genre have an appointment in Barcelona this June that they cannot miss: the International Festival of Advanced Music (Sónar) that returns to the Catalan capital on June 16, 17 and 18 after two years of pandemic.
The renowned festival, one of the most recognized festivals in the country, which attracts a multitude of audiences from both Spain and abroad, will feature the participation of relevant artists such as C. Tangana, Nathy Peluso, Rojuu, The Chemical Brothers or French-Venezuelan artist La Chica.
Headlining the announcement is C. Tangana. The most well-known figure in Spanish popular music today will play an extraordinary show following his latest album "El Madrileño". Headie One, the drill rapper who is reinventing the genre in the UK, will also make his first appearance at Sónar. Bonobo will return to present his upcoming album 'Fragments' and the opening act from his previous tour, producer Poté, joins him to play a percussive DJ set.
On the 'latino' side, DJ BRAVA will mix reggaeton, trap and r'n'b with a vital and urgent sense of fun. There will also be two unconventional shows dealing with themes of loss and grief: the ritualistic music of French-Venezuelan artist La Chica.
The festival will also count on the participation of the Chilean visual artist Constanza Piña as a guest of the "performative conferences", sessions that will promote the interaction between the past and the future as inspiration for "interplanetary folk music". Piña will show how an ancient Andean coding system, the khipu, anticipated modern computing for many centuries.
The festival will take place in two different venues: the Montjuïc fairgrounds, where the daytime concerts will be held, and the Fira Gran Vía, where there will only be events at night.
