The Colombian idol wanted to extend his recognition to new emerging talents.
"I want to dedicate this to the new generation that has been making music regardless of the genre, be it reggaeton, pop, rock... what's worth it is to keep dreaming and knowing that those dreams are going to come true," he said.
He also sought to dispel stereotypes about his country.
"Colombia is not drug trafficking, there is a lot of talent in this country, as well as too many good things in Latin America."
Together with his partners on stage, he also wore a T-shirt with the slogan: “Medallo on the map. More music, less violence.”
While big names like Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro were not awarded, Ángela Aguilar and El Alfa were awarded as revelation artists of the year.
