Lo Nuestro Awards 2022: A recognition of Latin musical excellence
The ceremony for excellence in Latin music will be held in Miami on Feb. 24, 2022.
The Lo Nuestro 2022 awards gala, a ceremony of excellence in Latin music chosen by the public on Univisión since 1989, is in its final countdown.
This year's event will be held on Feb. 24 in what will be Lo Nuestro's 34th gala. The Miami Arena will host the event, which will be broadcast live by Univisión. The TV network will extensively cover the arrival of singers, actors, presenters and celebrities from the Latin music world.
The upcoming edition, titled "Live the moment," aims to be a cry of optimism after the dark times marked by the coronavirus pandemic. In total, 166 artists have been received nominations. This year, the ceremony includes new categories, such as DJ of the Year, Song of the Year, Pop-Urban/Dance and The Perfect Mix of the Year.
The most nominated artists at this year's edition are Camilo, Christian Nodal and J Balvin. All received 10 nominations. Colombia's Camilo aspires to win back-to-back Pop Song of the Year awards with his acclaimed songs “Amén” and “Vida de Rico.”
Christian Nodal, who performed "Dime Cómo Quieres" in a duet format with Ángela Aguilar, aspires to win the Mexican Song of the Year. He also participates in the same category with “Duele”, where he collaborated with Alejandro Fernández.
J Balvin, in his urban genre, stands out in categories such as “Crossover” Collaboration of the Year for his hit “In Da Getto,” and in Song of the Year for “Tu Veneno.”

The 34th edition of Lo Nuestro highlights the most successful genres of contemporary Latin music: pop, urban, regional Mexican and tropical. The voting process to choose the winners closed on Feb. 7.
As is tradition, there will be a special "Night of Stars" before the ceremony where the artists and guests will walk on the Magenta Carpet.
One of the emotional moments of the gala will be the delivery of the Lifetime Achievement Award that will go to the Mexico's Paulina Rubio in recognition of a musical career of three decades.
Known as the 'Golden Girl,' Rubio began her career in the 1980s joining the pop group Timbiriche, and her popularity grew infinitely with Paulina (released in 2000), and Border Girl (released in 2002).
At the 2021 edition, the Latin music scene came together to show its strength and power worldwide in a gala that lasted more than four hours. Rosalía brought the Spanish flavor winning the award for Best Video of the Year with “TKN,” in a night of multiple triumphs for Bad Bunny, Camilo and Karol G.
