The city most-visited by Latinos on a recent list compiled by Despegar is Buenos Aires, Argentina, a city characterized by its historic architecture and delicious food scene. According to data from the city's Tourism Data Observatory, it received 1.5 million international visitors and 5.3 million domestic visitors during the year.

Santiago, Chile is in second. It has become "a strategic point to connect with other destinations in Latin America" and offers visitors "extraordinary places to enjoy unique experiences in streets and neighborhoods of great historical, cultural and gastronomic richness."

Another city that appears in the agency's top list is Mexico City, which has a wide range of activities for tourists, from historical experiences to a great nightlife.

"The most visited places by tourists are the Templo Mayor archaeological site, the Cathedral, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Angel of Independence and the incredible Chapultepec Forest, which has lakes, gardens, museums, spaces for sports and picnics, as well as a large zoo with free admission for visitors," reported Despegar.

The list also includes other major Latin American cities such as Bogota, Colombia and São Paulo, Brazil, for their dynamism, good food and wide range of tourist attractions.

In 2022, after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of tourists reached 65% of 2019 levels, according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
