The trailer for the second Doctor Strange movie, Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness was dropped over weekend during the Super Bowl. The trailer made fans of the Marvel production excited with the return of the Scarlet Witch. There was also speculation about the return of the X-Men.

In addition to the trailer, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) released a poster for the movie showing an adversary shrouded in mystery.

In the film, Doctor Strange will face new realities of the Multiverse. He will not be alone, but accompanied by some well-known allies and others that are new, but remain unrevealed.

Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gómez, Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The movie will premiere on May 6.

A Latina superhero

This Marvel production prequel has a special meaning for the Latino community in the United States because of Xochitl Gómez. In 2020, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) confirmed that the Latina would be joining the cast, however, it was not until the trailer was released that many were able to see Gómez playing the role of América Chávez.

In Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, Chavez is a teenage superhero able to fly and evade realities. The character, also known as Miss America, was created in 2011.

The 15-year-old actress began her career at five, when she participated in musicals in Los Angeles, her hometown. From there, her talent led her to play the character 'Chucky' in Shadow Wolves (2019) and Dawn Schaefer in the well-known Netflix series, The Baby-Sitters Club (2020). Previously, she had roles in other programs like Raven's Home (2017), You Are The Worst (2019), and Gentefied (2020).

At her young age, Gómez was also recently included in the list of Hollywood stars under 30, published by Forbes magazine.

A U.S. born Latina raised by a Caucasian mother and a Mexican father, Gómez is aware of the importance of the Latino community in the United States not only in societal aspects, but also in the film industry. She looks forward to the possibility that stories like the book, Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz, the Indigenous legend of Sacagawea and Las Adelitas will hit the big screen soon.
