After two years of being suspended due to the pandemic, Coachella returned with an edition that features the most Latin talent to date, bringing together artists such as Karol G, Nathy Peluso, Omar Apollo and Pabllo Vitar.

The Colombian Karol G shook the main stage of the Coachella festival with a performance characterized by the flags of her music: women and Latin flavor.

"I'm from Colombia, and I'm very proud to represent my country and Latinas," said Karol G at the beginning, immediately expressing gratitude for the opportunity to open spaces for Latinas on one of the largest stages of international music.

The singer had two special guests: Dutch DJ and producer Tiësto, who joined her on stage to perform her bilingual song "Don't Be Shy." Later, Becky G appeared to perform their new hit "Mamiii."

In addition to playing her greatest hits like "Bichota," Karol G also made an emotional tribute to Latin music that started with "Como la flor," the song that catapulted Selena to global stardom in the 1990s.

One after another, she sang “María” by Ricky Martin, “La Macarena” by Los del Río, “La vida es un Carnaval” by Celia Cruz, “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee, “Hips Don't Lie” by Shakira, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, and “Mi Gente” by J Balvin.

Leaving Latin America and Colombia at the top, Karol G's presentation at Coachella showed the musical diversity Latinos possess. To close, the Colombian sang one of her signature songs "Tusa," a song she performs alongside Nicki Minaj.

According to MRC Data, in 2021, the consumption of Latin music grew 21.1%, more than any other genre. At the end of last year, it was the fifth most listened to genre in the United States.
