Discover Spain from your couch
It is one of the great lessons of the pandemic: we can travel to any place in the world through the screen of a computer or a mobile phone.
If you want to make Spain your next holiday destination, but your time or budget is limited, why not draw on fiction?
The streaming platform Netflix has launched, together with the national tourism organism responsible for marketing the Spanish destination, Turespaña, a digital guide called Spain Travel Guide. Ethic magazine and the General Directorate of the Food Industry collaborated in the project.
“Just like we do with our series and movies, this guide is precisely an example of how we can go through the different territories that make up our country through real stories. The stories born in the audiovisual are opportunities to represent diversity”, said Diego Ávalos, Vice President of Content for Netflix in Spain and Portugal about the project.

Spain Travel Guide brings together stories that portray the 17 autonomous communities, from north to south and from east to west, in addition the two autonomous cities located in Moroccan territory (Ceuta and Melilla) and relate them to series and films that have been produced in Spain, and are available on Netflix.
The digital compilation is displayed in a map, so the viewer could choose an area and access a review of its people, customs, traditions, gastronomy, and a fictional production that shows aspects of that particular area.
In this way we can travel, for example, to the north... to Galicia and discover nature and culture thanks to "The mess you leave behind". "The leafy cliffs of the Ribeira Sacra or the magical forests that surround the Bande hot springs become the best accomplices to hide the harshness of a mystery that nobody wants to talk about," says the guide's website.

From Galicia, further down the map, we can move to Castilla-La Mancha, land of Don Quixote, and discover unrepeatable cultural aspects and landscapes thanks to “Las Chicas del Cable”.
Further south, we reach Málaga in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia. We have already dedicated an article to this city and we recommended it as an ideal destination for Easter. Malaga is on the rise and was one of the shooting locations of “The Crown” series television. Do you want to see it? Don't miss chapter 6 of the fourth season of the series.
Already outside the peninsular territory, in Morocco, are Ceuta and Melilla. A large part of the latest Netflix production “Warrior Nun” has been shot in the first city. If you have not been there before, do not miss this chance.
How many times have you traveled to a place inspired by your favorite movie or series? You can do it now too, without tickets, without airplanes, without trains or cars.. it will only take one click.
