The growth of Colombian cannabis exports has been driven by a favorable regulatory framework and the expansion of medical insurance coverage in the country, which now includes cannabis-based medications. However, despite this growth, the development of the local medical cannabis market has been slower than expected, with few products approved for commercialization and challenges in insurance coverage.
Colombia continues to expand its production capacity, with more than 864 hectares of legally cultivated cannabis and significant potential for further expansion. The Colombian cannabis industry remains competitive globally due to its low production costs, positioning it as a key player in the global cannabis market.
