We're breaking the wall between politicians, the media and you.

On March 30, at Pipeline Philly — a shared workspace across the street from City Hall — we're bringing the mayoral candidates; the brightest, most thought-provoking journalists we know; and we're sitting them down with you to talk about the future of Philadelphia. A future that grows out of the new Philadelphia whose dynamism and growth has been prompted by millennials and communities of color — precisely those usually absent from the stages of more conventional debates.

There will be no stage at "In conversation with Philadelphia: A discussion between the mayoral candidates, the media and the city" — just candidates and journalists from diverse venues in a semi-circle before you. The mayoral candidates will field questions from the journalists, but also from you, submitted via Twitter during the event and fed into the conversation by the moderator.

Like the space in which it will take place and like the people who will take part, the conversation will be inclusive, interactive and wide-ranging, and will broach questions about representation of all communities in our city, and address the disconnect between the public and City Hall.

The journalists who have agreed to be part of this novel conversation include Chris Krewson from Billy Penn; Helen Ubiñas from the Daily News; Ana Gamboa from AL DÍA News; Shai Ben-Yaacov from WHYY; Steve Bo-Le Yuan from Metro Chinese Weekly; and Solomon Jones from 900AM WURD. The moderator will be Sabrina Vourvoulias, AL DÍA's managing editor.

"In conversation with Philadelphia: A discussion between the mayoral candidates, the media and the city" is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required. The conversation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., and will be preceded by a reception from 5 to 6 p.m.
