AL DÍA 40 Under Forty Honoree: Raphael Castro
The inaugural AL DÍA 40 Under Forty event will be a showcase of the most diverse and impactful young professionals in various fields of work across the Philadelphia region.
At the virtual event, taking place August 20, 2020, Raphael Castro, 30, will be one of the 40 honorees. He is an Attorney at the Law Offices of Eric A. Shore.
As part of the lead-up to the event, AL DÍA asked each of the 40 honorees the same three questions and collected their responses.
Here are Raphael Castro’s responses:
Imposter syndrome. Nearly all minorities are underrepresented in the legal profession compared with the US population. Every single aspect of society is impacted in meaningful ways by lawyers including presidents, governors, lawmakers, judges, prosecutors, and corporate counsel. The legal profession needs to be inclusive as the population it serves.
CONTENIDO RELACIONADO
Every client who gives me the opportunity to fight for them. One case comes to mind is a construction worker who fell off the top floor of a warehouse because of a defective floor. He suffered a cracked skull, fractured his jaw, and had multiple disc herniations to his spine. The insurance company denied responsibility simply because he was undocumented. After litigation, I successfully secured a settlement because no one should be denied justice.
Getting involved. The opportunity to expand diversity and inclusion are much bigger than a single company or statement by a CEO. It’s our moral obligation to invest our time and money in community organizations and non-profits advocating for those who don’t have a say at the table. We need more women, racially and ethnically diverse, and LGBTQ+ leaders.
