Latino physicians from across the Philadelphia region were honored for their extraordinary achievements in medicine.

A remarkable event unfolded at the Masonic Temple in Center City, Philadelphia, filling the air with a sense of excitement and pride. It was AL DÍA's cherished annual Top Doctors ceremony, a gathering that celebrated the extraordinary achievements of Latino health professionals and honored emerging leaders in the Mid-Atlantic region.

 

The ten doctors who were honored are as follows:

  • Dr. Sarah Ines Ramirez, Family medicine physician, Penn State Health
  • Dr. Erick Forno, Director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Pediatric Asthma Center and the co-director of the Severe Asthma Clinic at UPMC's Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh
  • Dr. Enrique Hernandez, J. Robert Willson Professor and Chair Obstetrics and Gynecology, Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine
  • Dr. Alejandro Delgado Daza, Internal Medicine - Infectious Diseases, Jefferson Health Network
  • Dr. Jimmy Ruiz, Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist, Jefferson Health Network
  • Dr. Marlyn Ramos Lamboy, Medical Director - Spinal Cord Injury Program, Moss Rehab
  • Dr. Vilmaris Quiñones Cardona, Pediatric Practitioner, St. Christopher's Hospital
  • Dr. Arleen Ayala Crespo, Associate Professor, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine
  • Emerging Leader Award - Jordan Juarez, Fourth-year MD candidate, Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine
  • Lifetime Achievement Award - Dr. Daniel Schidlow, Dean Emeritus, Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine and Pharmacology and Physiology, Drexel's College of Medicine

Though the primary aim of the night was to pay homage to these exceptional professionals, their speeches were filled with wisdom and advice for the next generation of Latino doctors. They emphasized the importance of seeking mentors, acknowledging that guidance and support from experienced individuals can shape our paths toward greatness.

It was a night that served as a powerful reminder of the collective strength possessed by Latino health professionals and the tremendous impact they can have on our communities.
