The Temple University Health System and Temple University Hospital Inc. have gained a new Chief Nursing Executive in Dr. Chaudron Carter Short, PhD, EdD, RN, NEA-BC.

“Chaudron is a superb leader—a relationship builder, listener and mentor to her peers, patients and students,” said Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President & CEO of TUHS in a press release. 

“It is these traits that first brought Chaudron to Temple seven years ago to lead Temple University Hospital’s drive for Magnet designation for nursing—an honor the hospital achieved for the first time under her leadership,” he continued.

During her time at Temple, Dr. Short was appointed Chief Nursing Officer of TUH-Episcopal Campus and TUH-Northeastern Campus in order to keep their performance measures in line with the TUH-Main Campus. 

In her work, she has applied her management expertise broadly, across several areas in nursing, including med/surg, ambulatory care, surgery, accreditation, and public health in the health system, among other subjects.

Over her career, Dr. Short has created new models of nursing education, given nurses more opportunities to teach, and sought to create a path for nurses to follow. 

In addition, she has acted as the main point of contact for community groups seeking assistance from Temple in enacting health-related community projects and activities, recruiting Temple nurses to help complete these activities.

Short will take on the new role effective Mar. 20, following the departure of current Chief Nursing Executive Angelo Venditti, DNP, RN. Short will report to President and CEO of Temple University Hospital and EVP of TUHS, Abhi Rastogi, MBA, MIS.

Dr. Short earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Holy Family University, her first Master of Science in Health Education and Health Administration from Saint Joseph's University, her second Masters in Nursing Leadership from Wilmington University. 

Her first Doctorate was in Educational Leadership from Saint Joseph's University, and her second was a Doctorate in Nursing Leadership from Walden University.
