Giuliani's words have provoked reactions ranging from mockery to bewilderment, and many people, fed up with his lies, have a message for him:

“C’mon Rudy, stop trying to pull our leg, people are catching up to your — and your boss’ — shameless game. You may not realize it, but no one —voters included — likes your attempt to treat them like fools. Believe us, you are not that smart, and the number of those who, either stupidly or naively, still take seriously the nonsense you are spouting in a desperate attempt to shield your boss from the consequences of his misdeeds is shrinking fast.”

Yes, hard as it may be to believe, the president’s lawyer didn’t mean his comment as a joke. It was another con job, one more attempt to sell snake oil to the American people. The ex-America’s Mayor, sounding like a bargain basement George Orwell, was trying to take the country for a ride — again. One has to wonder how much longer will some people keep drinking this president’s poisonous Kool-Aid?

Giuliani’s latest attempt to pull the wool over the nation’s eyes happened last Sunday, when Chuck Todd of Meet the Press asked him whether Trump will finally meet with special counsel Robert Mueller.

“Look, I am not going to be rushed into having him testify so that he gets trapped into perjury,” Giuliani said, according to New York Magazine. “And when you tell me that, you know, he should testify because he’s going to tell the truth and he shouldn’t worry, well that’s so silly because it’s somebody’s version of the truth. Not the truth. He didn’t have a, a conversation …"

Todd: "Truth is truth. I don’t mean to go like…"

Giuliani: "No, it isn’t truth. Truth isn’t truth. The president of the United States says, 'I didn’t…'"

Todd: "Truth isn’t truth? Mr. Mayor do you realize, what, I, I, I –"

Giuliani: "No, no…"

Todd: "This is going to become a bad meme."

Not to be overly optimistic, but the naked lying and attempted muddying of the waters by Giuliani, Trump and the rest of the cabal of carnival barkers and snake oil salesmen who hold the country’s future in their hands — just think about that for a minute — may have gone too far this time. Thanks to Giuliani’s latest blatant distortion of reality, they may have reached the point of no return.

“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command,” Orwell wrote in "Nineteen Eighty-Four," his dystopian novel published in 1949 and the most famous of his works.

Trump, who compensates never having read Orwell with an oversized ego, an instinct for totalitarianism and a boundless admiration for dictators and strongmen, seems intent on making the English author’s prediction real: “Just remember: what you're seeing and what you're reading is not what's happening,” Trump famously said last month.

Their disrespect for the country is just too insulting. Trump and Giuliani assume people are stupid and can be easily confused and manipulated into believing their shameful reality show instead of the truth. Hopefully, come November 6, they will be proven wrong by voters.

The truth, so far, is that Mueller’s investigation is rapidly getting closer to Trump’s inner circle and to the president himself. No wonder he hates it so much.

Fortunately, Trump’s and Giuliani’s insulting lies and dystopian fantasy can be reined in once and for all. It’s a matter of everyone voting in the midterm elections.
