Taylor Swift expresses support for Kamala Harris
The artist made her decision public through a post on Instagram after the first presidential debate.
Singer Taylor Swift expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris following the first presidential debate. Swift, who has long been an advocate for progressive causes, made her decision public through a post on her Instagram account, where she has 283 million followers.
In her message, she stated: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to defend them. I believe she’s a talented and steady-handed leader, and I think we can accomplish much more in this country if we are guided by calm and not chaos.” Alongside her words, she shared a photo of her cat Benjamin and signed her post with the phrase "single cat lady," a clear reference to Republican Senator J.D. Vance’s recent remarks criticizing Harris and childless women, using that same phrase in a derogatory manner.

Swift’s endorsement quickly generated reactions across social media. Other celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Jennifer Aniston, Lady Gaga, Andy Cohen, Mandy Moore, Jack Antonoff, DJ Zedd, and Australian singer Gretta Ray, showed their support by liking the post.
However, the most unusual reaction came from tech magnate Elon Musk, who cryptically tweeted: "Fine, Taylor... you win... I’ll give you a child and take care of your cats with my life."
This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has endorsed a Democratic candidate. In 2020, she supported President Joe Biden, cementing her status as one of the most influential celebrity voices in U.S. political activism.
