When the whole country received the icy blow of a presidential speech undermined by separatism, verbiage and political proselytism, a young man brought to the stage a wave of hope for those who still believe in the values of the nation.

Joe Kennedy III could be judged by the political shadow of his predecessors (Robert F. "Bobby" Kennedy, John F. Kennedy and even John F. Fitzgerald), but this young representative of the fourth congressional district of Massachusetts lived up to a political history founded on the right of men to be equal.

From the hangar of a high school automaker in Fall River, Kennedy exposed the Donald Trump government as a political system that aims to "turn American life into a zero-sum game."

"This administration isn’t only targeting the laws that protect us - they are targeting the very idea that we are all worthy of protection," he said. "For them, dignity isn’t something you're born with but something you measure."

Kennedy thus held a direct accusation to the current administration, which was represented by a speech full of inaccuracies and propaganda that urge for a country only for some, and where everyone’s rights are exchangeable.

"Their record is a rebuke of our highest American ideal: the belief that we are all worthy, we are all equal and we all count. In the eyes of our law and our leaders, our God, and our government," he explained. "That's the American promise. But today that promise has been broken, by an administration that callously appraises our worthiness and decides who makes the cut and who can be bargained away. "

Kennedy put in perfect words the reality of a government run by an unscrupulous businessman: "for one to win, the other must lose".

But as a representative of the Democratic Party, this young man assured the position of those who oppose the government: "we choose both."

And marking a clear difference with the presidential rhetoric, Kennedy said with his eyes on the cameras and in perfect Spanish: "To all the Dreamers that are watching tonight, let me be clear: Ustedes son parte de nuestra historia. Vamos a luchar por ustedes y no nos vamos a alejar."

"You are part of our history," he continued in English. "We will fight for you. We will not walk away. America, we carry that story on our shoulders."
