To the joy of some and the dismay of others, one of the most iconic Philadelphia symbols is having a comeback on film.
This past weekend actor Sylvester Stallone was seen in town as he began shooting “Creed,” the seventh film in which the actor portrays one of the most famous boxers in cinema: Rocky Balboa.
As in other installments of the series, Philadelphia’s scenery will be an important element of the movie, so expect to recognize popular local spots and even some AL DÍA News honor boxes. The crew asked this media outlet permission to feature these in the new movie to give it an authentic Philly feel.
IMDB describes the film as “a story that finds Rocky Balboa acting as a trainer and mentor to the grandson of his fellow boxing alumni, Apollo Creed,” set to be released in 2016.
Actor Michael B. Jordan starts as “Adonis Creed,” the grandson of Apollo Creed, the original heavyweight champion of the world faced, then wrested the title from in the first few movies.
