Rockets and solar cars take off at Hunting Park

Hunting Park Science Discovery Day took place today, part of the Philadelphia Science Festival which runs through May 2.

Community organizations in Hunting Park – with the help of The Franklin Institute – came together to bring STEM opportunities to neighborhood kids and families, and formed the Hunting Park Community Science Network, and the discovery day they put together was like a miniature science carnival allowed fun exploration of topics from sustainable farming to geology, robots, slime and more.

If you missed it, there will be another day filled with hands-on science activities, including robots, simple ways to “green”-ify your life, learning about physics from Dr. Skateboard, checking out the DOW Chemical Company NASCAR, and other offerings from over 175 exhibitors, when the Science Carnival comes to the Parkway May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
