Mayor Michael Nutter announced that Richard Negrin, managing director and deputy mayor for Administration and Coordination, will be leaving the City for a new position at a Philadelphia law firm.

Following his service in the Nutter Administration, Negrin will become a partner at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, a full-service law firm headquartered in Philadelphia, focusing on advising businesses, governments and non-profits on important policy and regulatory issues that impact their daily business operations.

“It is with mixed emotions that I say goodbye to my role as managing director of the City of Philadelphia,” Negrin said. “I have been honored and humbled by this experience and will always carry fond memories of the dedicated public servants and citizens I worked with to make Philadelphia better.”

As deputy mayor and managing director, Negrin led the creation of the first Municipal Innovation Lab and Innovation Academy, the city’s new cloud-based and mobile Philly311 system and created the City's first Center of Excellence, bringing best practices in Project Management, Organizational Development and Performance Management to City government. He also oversaw the development and implementation of PhillyRising, a first of its kind neighborhood initiative that is changing quality of life in many of Philadelphia’s challenged neighborhoods and is being replicated in other cities.

“Rich Negrin has been an outstanding public servant and leader in the Administration. He’s tackled major issues like property assessments, vacant land, voting and much more as deputy mayor and managing director,” Nutter said. “He has helped this Administration find innovative solutions to long-standing problems and Philadelphians have garnered tremendous value through his work.”
