Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw was injured in a car crash earlier this afternoon, when the car she was riding in was hit by an Uber driver.

The accident reportedly occurred just before 3 p.m. at 15th & Race Streets in Center City Philadelphia. She was reportedly on her way to a meeting at City Hall when the crash occurred.

According to reports, the male driver of the Uber ran a red light, causing the driver to hit Outlaw’s vehicle on the driver’s side.

As a result of the collision, Outlaw and her colleague, who was driving the car, were both taken to the hospital for evaluation.

CBS3 Philadelphia is reporting that Outlaw is experiencing back pain, while her driver has pain in his left hand.

The uber driver and his female passenger were both also taken to the hospital, and police say, all four individuals involved in the crash suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were all in stable condition.

“We are really thankful there aren’t any serious injuries,” said Corporal Jasmine Reilly of the Philadelphia Police Department.

It was reported by NBC10 Philadelphia that Outlaw was released from the hospital later the same evening.

The intersection was closed off temporarily in the immediate aftermath of the crash; however, it reopened after police finished towing away both cars.

Councilman Isaiah Thomas was among the City officials who sent thoughts to the Police Commissioner and the others involved in the crash.

No other details regarding the crash have been released as of this writing, as the incident remains under investigation.
