In anticipation of Consul Carlos Giralt-Cabrales’ departure from Philadelphia to begin his new appointment as the consul general in Guangzhou, China, top city officials gathered at Philadelphia Union League to bid him farewell and give him their best wishes in his new diplomatic venture.

Members from the Consular Corps Association of Philadelphia, the Pan American Association of Philadelphia, as well as the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority attended the event on Tuesday evening.

Among the many who spoke at the event was Mayor Jim Kenney, who wished the consul many more successes in his career.

“Consul Giralt-Cabrales showed an unparalleled commitment to supporting and engaging the Mexican community in Philadelphia. He will be greatly missed,” Kenney said.
