Philly residents demand Peña Nieto’s resignation
On Dec. 1 a protest will take place at 5 p.m. outside the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia, at 111 South Independence Mall.
The regional organization Unidos por México has joined a social movement that urges the immediate resignation of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.
The group is formed by local and regional Mexican residents and other communities that first joined forces to organize a protest and vigil in support of the 43 missing students from Iguala, in Mexico. They want justice from the government and demand that Peña Nieto is put on trial for crimes against humanity,
"When the president took office he said he would execute this position — secured by the people’s vote — with loyalty and patriotism, focusing in the good and prosperity of the Union. If he fails to do so, the nation can demand it. It is time that he at least meet this latter half of his oath, and if he can’t, we don’t want him in power," said activist Carmen Guerrero.
