Philly ranked 20 for traffic delays

It may seem like Philadelphia traffic is bad, but in comparison to other cities, it’s not.
GPS company TomTom measured global traffic congestion and that found that Philadelphia ranked number 20 for traffic delays on a list of 53 major U.S. cities.
The city also was listed as number 99 among major cities around the world.
With a 23 percent congestion level, Philly drivers can expect an extra 18 minutes each day on their 30-minute commute, according to the study. TomTom also found that highways are normally less congested than non-highways. Highways have a 16 percent congestion level, while non-highways have 29 percent congestion level.
The study also found that evening rush hour is the most congested time of the day in Philly, with Thursday evening being the most congested (53 percent). Friday morning is the least congested time during the week (29 percent).
Jan. 21, was also listed as the city’s most congested day in 2014. On that day, Mayor Michael Nutter declared a snow emergency.
