In honor of National Dog Day on August 26, the pet-friendly Hotel Monaco Philadelphia held their first-ever “Dog Days of Summer” event. Hotel staff and volunteers from Operation Ava, a local no-kill animal rescue and adoption center, set up a sidewalk pop-up puppy shop to provide free dog baths. While the baths were free, Operation Ava accepted donations. Operation Ava brought adoptable pups to the event, and Doggie Style, a local pet shop, gave away goodie bags to those who participated.
Red Owl Tavern, the hotel’s restaurant, offered a “Dogs & Suds” happy hour. The happy hour featured two kobe beef hot dog specials for $10 each and Dogfish Head brews for $6. A portion of the proceeds from the happy hour was donated to Operation Ava.
