A group of about 100 Latino immigrants will lead a candlelight procession from South Philly to Pope Francis’ event this Saturday at Independence Hall, where he will talk about immigration.

“Just this morning Pope Francis introduced himself as the son of an immigrant family. We know he sees us and understands our suffering and hopes he makes a call to this nation from the steps of liberty to extend their arms to all immigrants, from those who seek refuge to those who call this place home,” said Yared Portillo, member of South Philly immigrant organization Juntos.

The group will depart at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, from Dickenson Square Park on 4th St and Tasker St. to Independence Hall.
