Just when things were beginning to slow down in Philly’s mayoral race with the news of Terry Gillen dropping out, two more prospects announced their intentions to run for mayor of Philadelphia.

A former PGW spokesperson and former press secretary for Mayor Michael Nutter, Doug Oliver said he is joining the race and plans to announce it officially in February. Oliver became known to the public with his campaign DO2015, through which he seeks to connect with voters using technology instead of the “typical political process.”

The newest undeclared mayoral hopeful is T. Milton Street Sr., who stated that he wants to build his campaign on fighting violence in the city and is expected to officially enter the race sometime in the "next couple weeks,” according to Philly.com

Oliver is the youngest in the race, has never been an elected official and is not a career politician. Street, on other hand, is a former state senator who has run once for City Council and twice for mayor of Philadelphia.

As of this week, there are three officially declared candidates for mayor: Lynne Abraham, Anthony H. Williams and Ken Trujillo, as well as undeclared candidate Nelson Díaz, who is expected to launch his campaign Jan. 15.
