The LOVE Park redesign plan has finally been decided!
After various redesign surveys and public forums, Hargreaves and Associates, along with KieranTimberlake, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy, have finally decided and revealed the final design for the new LOVE Park.
The popular destination for tourists and locals was originally constructed in 1965, but hadn’t seen any new upgrades. In hopes of making the space more accessible and usable, the park’s redesign includes the addition of green space, a new water fountain, more seating, creation of concession areas (and a food truck area), renovation of the welcome center (including a green roof) and providing more open access to the park. The LOVE statue is staying put the park.
PlanPhilly reports that a few more signatures and final approvals need to be gathered before an official timeline of the redesign can be announced. However the park is anticipated to open sometime in 2017.
