On Wednesday, Feb. 16, Power Street Theatre will hold a virtual community story circle, “A story circle on Afro-Latinidad.”

The story circle will be conducted via Zoom, and will involve a detailed and informative discussion on African history and heritage within Latin America and the Caribbean.

Power Street Theatre was founded with a purpose of creating meaningful change in the theatre world and diverse communities.

In their own words, Power Street Theatre was not founded just to be another theatre company. The theatre employs values such as equity, transparency, wellness, and collective power in their pursuits.

Power Street Theatre co-founder and resident playwright, Erlina Ortiz, was recently awarded a Leeway Transformation Award.

Wednesday’s discussion will feature speakers such as Luisa Ossa, Ph.D, and actor Andres Chulisi Rodriguez.

The event will run between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. There will be a raffle at the story circle, with prizes up to $100.

Anyone is allowed to register. As long as you’re registered, you won’t be excluded from the discussion.

“Whether you identify as Afro-Latine, have friends or family who identify  as Afro-Latine, or simply want to be a part of an informative and creative discussion on African History and Heritage in Latin America - this story circle is for you!” said Power Street Theatre in a statement.
