On April 15, 2015, minimum wage activists are gathering in more than 200 cities around the country for National Strike Day for fast-food workers.

In Center City Philadelphia, groups are rallying at various locations like 17th and Walnut,  9th and Market and Broad and Arch streets throughout the day to call for a $15 an hour wage.

In March, low-wage workers made their case call during a City Council hearing asking members of the council pass a resolution asking for a $15 minimum wage in Philadelphia and for the overturn of the statewide ban on municipal minimum wage hikes.

Fast-food workers are the only ones demanding higher wages. Earlier this month, Philly airport workers went on strike to demand their employers comply with a living wage law that was passed last year that requires pay of $10.88 or more per hour at city-owned facilities.
