Summer in Philly has gotten better each year with the addition of pop-up parks and beer gardens, among many other outdoor activities.
Here we have highlighted some of city’s best beer gardens:
Spruce Street Harbor Park
Now open until September
Last summer, the free, waterfront pop-up park in Penn’s Landing drew more than a million visitors to enjoy a floating beer garden and restaurant. This year, guests can sip local beers and eat tasty treats from Garces Group, Federal Donuts, and Franklin Fountain. The park will be open daily through the end of September. More info.
Frankford Hall
Open Year-round.
Located in Fishtown, Frankford Hall offers indoor and outdoor seating, games like from Jenga and ping pong, German foods like pretzels and bratwurst, as well as German and craft beers served by the liter or 1/2 liter. More info.
The Oval
Opens July 15 until August 23
The family-friendly, seasonal pop-up outdoor public space on the Parkway features a beer garden, food trucks, games and themed events. Earlier this month, The Oval was home to the Future Sensations exhibition. More info.
Point Breeze Pop-Up
Now open until September 7
The Point Breeze neighborhood now has its own pop-up park. Created by the owners of neighborhood dining establishments South Philadelphia Tap Room, American Sardine Bar and Brew, the Point Breeze Pop-Up will offer a rotating variety of food trucks and special events. More info.
Morgan’s Pier
Now open
One of Philly’s most popular places, Morgan’s Pier offers craft beers, live music, delicious food by Top Chef winner Nicholas Elmi on the Delaware River Waterfront. New this summer is a DJ during happy hour, a brunch menu as well as additional menu items. More info.
Independence Beer Garden
Now open until September
Located steps away from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, the Independence Beer Garden is back for its second year. Offering more than 40 beers on tap, oversized games and an extensive menu including burgers, cheese curds, ribs and more. More info.
Porch 2.0
Now Open
The Porch, the outdoor space at 30th Street Station, has been revamped with permanent seating, overhead lighting, food and drinks from The Rotisserie, greenery and porch swings. More info.
Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest
Now open until September
Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest offers Philly’s first ever outdoor roller skating rink. The Lodge has been turned into a boathouse-themed restaurant that serves food and drinks. It will be open daily through the end of September. More info.
PHS Pop-Up Gardens
Now open until October 1
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s pop-up garden is back this summer with three beer gardens. Located in various parts of the city, each pop-up garden will feature the PHS’ selection of beer, cocktails, food and horticultural flair. The gardens’ locations are: Logan Square (17th and Cherry streets), East Passyunk (9th and Wharton streets) and Graduate Hospital (1438 South Street). They will be open seven days a week. More info.
Festivus Beer Garden at Franklin Square
June 18, July 23, August 20, & October 24.
On four Thursdays during the summer and fall, Festivus beer garden is returning to Franklin Square with beers from Frankford Hall, food trucks and more. More info.
