Two separate shooting incidents occurred  in Kensington over the weekend. Three were killed in argument early Sunday morning and a 4-year-old girl was killed Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Mayfield Street near B Street, according to a NBC10. The news outlet reported that a 4-year-old girl was shot by her mother’s boyfriend as he was “handling his semiautomatic handgun and accidentally shot the girl.” Originally it was believed that the girl had been shot by a sibling. NBC10 later updated the story when Philadelphia Police told them that the man confessed to the shooting overnight and was taken into custody.

There are varying reports of the man’s relationship to the girl. Police are still investigating.

The incident Sunday occurred around 3:30 a.m. according to 6ABC. An argument occurred at a house on the 600 block of East Westmoreland Street at that time which left a woman and two man dead along with another man with “nonlife-threatening injuries.” 6ABC reported the suspect used a shotgun to kill his brother, his brother’s girlfriend and another man.

When police arrived at the scene, the man refused to leave the house and had to be coaxed out using a negotiator, according to 6ABC. The suspect is in custody and charges are pending.
