August 1st, 2022Last year, Latinas in Business hosted an Entrepreneur Empowerment Lunch as part of the Latina SmallBiz Expo and Pitch Competition - the first of its kind.
In 2019, the conference has grown into being hosted as its own separate multi-hour event, filled with interactive panels and peer-to-peer sharing of valuable information.
The conference invites successful Latinas and other women and men entrepreneurs in very competitive industries, where they will share their success stories, as well as tips on how to not only survive, but strive in these competitive industries.
“This year’s theme is reflective of one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States,” Founder of Latinas in Business, Susana Baumann, said in an email.
According to Global Wellness Institute, wellness is a $4.2 trillion market, while beauty and cosmetics is heading towards being worth $90 billion, and both are broadly dominated by women entrepreneurs.
The numbers in these industries are all expected to continue growing exponentially. However, “many of these businesses don’t provide the financial wellbeing that entrepreneurs deserve for their efforts,” said Baumann.
“For many, it is difficult to innovate, manufacture and market their products either to the general consumer or to larger corporations,” she added.

The conference is aimed at addressing these constraints and other issues that women entrepreneurs face in those industries.
“We will make sure that attendees leave with a number of tools, strategies and technology that are available for these different industries,” said Baumann. “We want them to know that these resources are available and that our organization can be the link to find those resources, while helping them promote, expand and grow their businesses."
In January 2019, Murphy launched Nurture NJ, a statewide awareness campaign committed to reducing infant and maternal mortality and morbidity and ensuring equitable maternal and infant healthcare among women and children of all races and ethnicities.
The celebrity speaker at the event will be Cenia Paredes, founder of Cenia New York. Other notable speakers include Ivana De Maria, actress, TV writer and producer, women’s advocate and creator of StorySharing; and award-winning TV producer Jackeline Cacho.
The event will take place Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 9am to 2pm at the Hudson County Culinary Conference Center in Jersey City, NJ.
