On May 5, the Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA) announced that Jimmy Contreras, Vice President of U.S. Regional Communications at JPMorgan Chase, had joined its Board of Directors. 

MANNA is an organization that uses a “food as medicine” model and works to bring medically appropriate meals and nutrition counseling to people with serious illnesses like HIV/AIDS, cancer, and renal disease. MANNA delivers meals 3 meals a day, every day of the week to nine counties in Philadelphia and South Jersey. 

The organization was founded by members of the First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia in 1990 to bring meals to people in the community who were dying of AIDS. 

Contreras said in a LinkedIn post that he is, “Extremely proud to join the MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) Board of Directors.” 

“An incredible organization using nutrition to improve the health of those in need in our community. Truly a full circle moment,” he continued. 

Contreras has worked with the organization since 2000.

He has well over a decade of experience in the communications and public relations fields. 

Prior to working at JPMorgan Chase beginning in July 2021, Contreras was the Public Relations Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company for over four years. 

He also worked as a Media Relations Specialist at Independent Public Relations Consultant and as the Media Relations Director at Cashman & Associates Communications. 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication from American University. 

The organization posted on its LinkedIn, “We are excited to announce the election of our most recent member to MANNA’s Board of Directors -- Jimmy Contreras, Vice President of U.S. Regional Communications for JPMorgan Chase & Co!”

The post continued, “Jimmy has been a long-time friend of MANNA’s, serving in various roles with the organization from volunteer to committee member for more than 20 years. Jimmy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in communications, marketing, and community relations to the table, and we couldn’t be more honored to welcome him to our Board of Directors!”

Contreras serves on several other boards, including the American Heart Association and the Academy of Music Young Friends, and the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
