The global media and technology company recently announced a $25,000 donation to the United Way of the Mid-South in West Tennessee, and another $25,000 donation to the Heart of Arkansas United Way in Little Rock.

Tennessee

Jan Hensley, City of Covington Mayor, said:

During times of crisis, it’s essential that we have great partners like Comcast to help support our communities.

Comcast noted that its contractors traveled to affected areas throughout the Southeast immediately after the tornado devastated the region, restoring service once network repairs were completed and restoring power in less than 24 hours.

In addition, the company announced that its network of Xfinity WiFi hotspots is available for anyone to use for free, including non-Xfinity customers, as well as a Tipton County-enabled van to provide connectivity to its residents.

“Comcast’s donation to the United Way of the Mid-South will greatly benefit our residents, and we thank them for their investment during this difficult time,” added Hensley.

For his part, Jason Gumbs, Comcast’s regional senior vice president, stated: “United Way of the Mid-South has a long history of supporting local communities after natural disasters. It is an honor to contribute to their mission and assist impacted residents during this very challenging time.”

Arkansas

In addition to the $25,000 given to the Heart of Arkansas United Way in support of Little Rock tornado relief efforts, Comcast also recently announced the arrival of its Xfinity WiFi van, which offers free Internet connectivity to residents without service every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 10907 North Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock.

“The Heart of Arkansas United Way continues to make a powerful impact in communities affected by natural disasters. It is a privilege to support their mission and assist impacted residents during this very challenging time,” highlighted Gumbs.
