The Philadelphia area’s only live and locally-produced Spanish-language newscast, produced by Telemundo62, is debuting its 5 PM daily newscast on September 26. The newscast, Noticiero Telemundo62 a las 5, will be the only programming at that time that caters to Spanish-speaking viewers.

Currently serving the entire Greater Philadelphia area, including 18 counties across Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware, the newscast will provide the region with the latest breaking news, weather forecasts, and more.

When the newscast launched in January 2014, it was the first Spanish-language local newscast in the Delaware Valley. The growth in viewership and the success of the newscast highlights the need within the community for quality news programming in households where Spanish is the primary language spoken in the home.

“I think Spanish speakers need to be informed and not neglected,” said Iris Delgado, current anchor of the newscast.

“We’ve been consistent with the community, telling the stories that impact them the most, consistently working [...] Our commitment to informing and helping the Hispanic community gets noticed. We will continue to use the NBC10 platform to inform our viewers,” Delgado stated.

As the most-watched Spanish-language newscast among adults in Philadelphia, Noticiero Telemundo62, has cornered the markets for audiences of all ages including three key demographic groups: Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25 to 54.

The earlier programming is an effort to provide more current news to an already captive viewership. Assistant News Director, Damaris Bonilla, spoke about the transformation since it’s launch.

“Our audience is growing month-by-month and has been since our launch in 2014. We’ll be 3 years on-air and for the Spanish market we are already number one. It’s huge for us to have achieved that in the short-term. Not just in news but also the prime time schedule. [...] We’re always working with a mission to serve our audience so there’s always space to grow,” says Bonilla.
