Spotlight: Pedro Bomente
The software delivery manager for Amdocs is the seventh feature of the Spotlight section.
Pedro Bomente was born in a small town in Brazil called Penápolis, and has been living in Philadelphia for just over a year.
Growing up, he was always close with his parents and his sister, and credits them for providing their children with a lot of love and a good education. That helped lay the foundation for making him the person he is today, and gave him the strength and confidence he needed to pursue all the things he has achieved so far. Now that he is expecting his first son, he is hopeful to provide his son with the same upbringing he had.
In 2017, Bomente was given a relocation opportunity while working for Amdocs in Brazil. This effectively gave him the chance to fulfill one of his life goals: living abroad. So he moved to Philadelphia.
Moving to a new country brought about several challenges, including a lack of reference, and major changes in day-to-day activities. He also highlighted the challenges that language barriers present for immigrants. He recalled going to an event hosted by the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, and credited them for helping him adjust to a new lifestyle.
“I truly believe moving to U.S. was the greatest learning experience I have had ever in my life,” he said.
Through it all, Bomente’s family remains his “strongest root.” Though he is far from his parents and sister, he appreciates how technological advances have made communicating with them much easier.
In achieving goals, Bomente says it’s very important to know “what you want, where you want to go, [and] what your dreams and goals are.”
