After its March date was postponed by the coronavirus pandemic, AL DÍA’s 40 under Forty has a new date of Aug. 20 and now an emcee for its virtual ceremony.

Loraine Ballard Morrill, award-winning news and community affairs director for six iHeartMedia Philly stations will be the voice of AL DÍA News’ inaugural 40 under Forty event, which will celebrate the achievements of some of Philadelphia’s youngest stars across all fields of work.

Morrill is the host of Philadelphia’s Community Affairs programs “Insight” and “What’s Going On,” which air across the six radio stations she oversees including: Power 99, WDAS FM, Q102, ALT 104.5, The Breeze 106.1 and The Gambler 1480 AM. She also coordinates community outreach for each station.

Throughout her career, she’s won many prestigious awards for both her community and radio work, including the Philadelphia NAACP President’s Award, the Philadelphia Association for Black Journalists’ Community Award, and the Achievement in Radio Lifetime Achievement Award to name a few.

One of the stations she manages, Power 99, was the first to be awarded six Crystal Awards for Service by the National Association of Broadcasters and the first Crystal Heritage Award, the highest honor for broadcast community service.

In addition to radio, Morrill also sits on the boards of PHLDiversity, the Mayor’s Commission on Adult Education, Girl Scouts of Eastern PA, the Marian Anderson Awards, and the READ!by4th Leadership Committee.

AL DÍA News’ 40 under Forty virtual ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 20.
