Medical Marijuana bill passed Pa. House
The House voted 149-46 to pass SB3 bill, which legalizes the use of medical marijuana in the state for 17 medical conditions.
On Wednesday, the parents of children suffering from debilitating seizures finally had a reason to celebrate. After years of fighting, medical marijuana can be prescribed in Pennsylvania.
The House voted 149-46 to pass SB3 bill, which legalizes the use of medical marijuana in the state for 17 medical conditions such as seizures, cancer, autism or multiple sclerosis.
After the legislation was approved in the Senate and the House on Tuesday and Wednesday, the only thing that remains before it becomes law is Gov. Tom Wolf’s signature. He is expected to sign it into law in the next few days.
“Today (April13th) the House passed SB3, sending the medical marijuana legalization bill to my desk. I am proud and excited to sign this bill that will provide long overdue medical relief to patients and families who could benefit from this treatment,” Wolf said in a statement. “I applaud members of both parties in the House and Senate who have come together to help patients who have run out of medical options and want to thank the thousands of advocates who have fought tirelessly for this cause. I have met with patients and families, held roundtables, and urged action on this legislation since taking office, and it is encouraging that the hard work of these families has resulted in historic legislation.”
When Wolf signs the bill into law, Pennsylvania will become the 24th state to legalize marijuana for medical purposes.
