Yalitza Aparicio set to star in new Netflix comedy
The well-known Mexican actress will star in 'The Great Seduction,' a comedy that will premiere on Netflix in 2023.
The streaming platform released, this week, a short video of the first reading of the script of the Mexican comedy The Great Seduction (La gran seducción).
The movie is directed by filmmaker Celso García, who worked on the script along with Luciana Herrera Caso.
The cast of The Great Seduction features renowned actress Yalitza Aparicio, Memo Villegas (Run Coyote Run and Prayers for the Stolen), Mercedes Hernández (Identification of Traits, Huesera), and Pierre Louis.
Very little is known about the plot of the project or the roles of the contracted talent, but there is great expectation for Aparicio's return to Netflix after her performance in Roma, Alfonso Cuarón's film that earned the Oaxacan an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in 2019.

After Roma, Yalitza added many new film projects to her resume and was also included in TIME magazine's list of 100 most influential people. In her profile, written by Cuarón, he called Aparicio “a person incredibly rooted in her truth, that she is not easily swayed by the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, (...) that focuses on being a force for change and empowerment for indigenous women, accepting the symbolic value of what she has done and carrying that responsibility with her dignity and grace.”
More projects in 2022
In addition to The Great Seduction, which will be released in 2023 on Netflix, Aparicio is part of the cast of the film Presencias, by director Luis Mandoki. The film will premiere in 2022 on ViX, the new streaming platform of Televisa and Univisión.
Aparicio will also star in Midnight Family, the first series in Spanish produced by Apple TV+. It is based on a documentary of the same name that "explores the streets of Mexico City together with the Ochoa family, whose ambulance service deals with life or death situations every night."
In this 10-episode production, Aparicio will work with Joaquín Cosío (known for his performance in the series Narcos: Mexico), Óscar Jaenada (who has worked on Cantinflas), Renata Vaca (who had a role in Dale Gas), Diego Calva (also from Narcos: Mexico) and Mariana Gómez (from the popular series La Reina del Flow), among others. The release date has not been announced by Apple TV+.
